It begins like a boxing🥊 match but Kal, the boxer I have hedged all my bets on begins on the floor. He is pinned down and from the moment the bell goes the opponent starts landing powerful punches👊. In a minute Kal’s face is a deep shade a blue and teeth start flying like sparks from a firecracker💣. May be the referee will end this match early? But no. He watches in mute refusing to interfere. I sit there watching this unfold with a hope that Kal will fight back. But he doesn’t.

Two more boxers enter the arena soon and join in punching Kal. This is definitely unfair and against the rules. The game has to stop now. I hope it does. Instead I hear the announcer make a comment on how hope is a dangerous thing. Is this the right time to discuss stoic philosophy?😠 However this atrocity goes on. Kal gets pounded and pulverized mercilessly. That was it for my boxer. 🥀

I think I have had enough. So I start leaving the arena, walking backwards keeping an eye on the boxers. Still with a bit of hope. And just when I was about to step out, I see Kal stand up for the first time. I run back and grab my seat. He is back!

Kal is up on his feet. He is smiling showing his 32 teeth! Mad man, he is back.😁 And then he lands one swinging punch on all boxers. Sending them flying out of the boxing ring. The game is over in one punch. Kal wins and I yell, “strength before weakness you bastards"!

This is an imaginary boxing match that played out in my head over the course of 1200 pages of Rhythm Of War📕. Watching Kaladin⚔️ suffer from inner and outer demons had me pulling my hair and screaming at the storming Almighty! But the pay off makes it all worth it.

Stormlight Archives📚 is a one hell of a fantasy series with a shitload of things to talk about. And, among the many intricately woven storylines of Stormlight Archives, the storyline of watching Kaladin fight his inner demons is truly the most satisfying.
