The Sky is Purple

Ennui.
I am sitting there looking at this dark landscape in front of me.
Beyond the 5-foot wall
and beyond the smattering of dried trees
and into the horizon.

The horizon is pitch dark
and there hangs a eerie calm.
Occasionally broken by a distant howling.

And then a lightning strikes.
One with ever growing dendrites like Medusa’s hair.
I wait for it to end.
10 seconds, 1 minutes and 5 minutes!!

The sky is purple now.
I expect a super hero landing.
Thor, where art thou?
Nobody comes.

Time to run.
Up towards the Cadets’ Mess
and far away to escape this purple sky.

10 minutes now!
The Earth cannot take so much electricity.
The crust has to give away.
Into oblivion any moment.

But, the end never comes.
I just keep running.
Because, the sky is purple
And it is 2020.
